On May 9th a threat was found on a bathroom wall in Mary E. Volz School. The graffiti mentioned a threat may occur the following day, May 10th, the building was searched and deemed secure by law enforcement officials. While many parts of the investigation are unable to be disclosed to the public, there are some pieces of information that we can share. The investigation conducted by the administration produced the student who was involved in writing the threat. The investigation determined that the graffiti included an inappropriate phrase used by the student and that it was a child acting out instead of a credible threat. However, both the school and the police take this matter very seriously and the appropriate consequences have been dispensed to the student. The specifics of the consequences will not be made public because it is a confidential matter. However, we can assure everyone that the matter was handled appropriately.
The safety of our Runnemede children will continue to be our most important goal moving forward. Thank you for your cooperation during this situation. If you have any questions, feel free to call the board office so we can explain our procedures to make you feel more comfortable about any of our schools.MESSAGE TO ALL PARENTS AND STAFF
